It should go without saying, but revisit your LinkedIn groups every few months or so. Use the group search option in LinkedIn to see if perhaps there are groups you’ve somehow missed or that have been newly created.
Perhaps there are groups that are a better fit than others you are currently in for those tough requisitions that just keep on going. Just this week I made some very tough decisions when deciding what groups had to go to make room for groups more relevant to some very tough searches. Of course, keep in mind that you can always add them back later should you need them again.
Why all this work? Remember, when you perform a search in LI, the search expands to see those names or profiles that are in your groups. In fact, you don’t even need to be connected to those in your groups in order to see their profiles in the query results.
So, think strategic and get ready to make some tough decisions!
